The University Hospital is on the north-eastern side of Coventry, easily accessible from all parts.

Environment

Coventry has pleasant residential areas within easy reach of Walsgrave Hospital and the city centre. There are several small towns nearby such as Warwick, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa and Stratford Upon Avon which are also within easy driving distance of the hospitals. Road connections are excellent. There is an inner and outer Coventry ring road giving easy access to the M6/M69/M40 and M42. There are good InterCity and local rail services from Coventry with easy connections to all parts of the country. The half-hourly Inter-City trains for instance take 75 minutes to reach London. There is a local Coventry Airport and the Birmingham International Airport can be reached in about 20 minutes.

Education

Educational needs are catered for by several good state and private schools in Coventry and its environment. The University of Warwick is on the outskirts of Coventry and has direct links with the Coventry Hospitals.

Art, culture and sport

Excellent cultural facilities are available in Coventry City Centre, at Warwick University and at nearby Stratford Upon Avon. Two large sports complexes are open to the public within the City area.

The University Hospital by Road

From Birmingham, the south-west and north-west: approach Coventry on the M6 (use the M6 toll road if coming from north of Birmingham) and exit at Junction 2 (signposts for A4600 to Coventry and M69 to Leicester). From Junction 2, turn south onto the A4600 to Coventry. Proceed past two roundabouts, heading straight on, and then through a set of traffic lights. At the third roundabout, a large one with a Sainsbury's Homebase store to the right, turn left following the signs to the Hospital. Turn immediately left into the University Hospital.

From London, the south-east and East Anglia: approach Coventry on the M1 or A14 and turn onto the M6 for Coventry and Birmingham. Exit at Junction 2 (signposts for A4600 to Coventry and M69 to Leicester). From Junction 2, turn south onto the A4600 to Coventry. Proceed past two roundabouts, heading straight on, and then through a set of traffic lights. From Nottingham, Leicester and the north-east: approach Coventry on the M1 and then at Leicester (Junction 21) take the M69 to Coventry. At the end of the M69 exit looping round to the left onto the A4600 to Coventry. Bear left - don't go on to the M6 to Birmingham. Take the second exit at the large roundabout (Showcase Cinema to your left) onto the A4600. Proceed past the next roundabout, heading straight on, and then through a set of traffic lights. At the third roundabout, a large one with a Sainsbury's Homebase store to the right, turn left following the signs to the Hospital. Turn immediately left into the University Hospital.

From Oxford and immediately south: approach Coventry on the A46 and turn right onto the outer ring road (A444) signposted for M69 and Leicester. Go straight on past two roundabouts - the second has a TGI Friday restaurant to the left. At the third roundabout, turn left for the Hospital and Walsgrave. After 300 metres, turn right at the roundabout and proceed up Clifford Bridge Road past Tesco on your right. At the second set of traffic lights turn right into the University Hospital.

The University Hospital by Rail

Coventry Railway Station is on the West Coast Main Line from London to Birmingham and Manchester. Other Intercity services pass through, and there are numerous local trains.

The hospital is most easily accessible from Birmingham International Airport, which is about 16 miles (25 km) away. Approach down the M6 or take the train to Coventry.

East Midlands Airport is 37 Miles (60 km) up the M69 and M1.
