Primary FRCA: OSCE / SOE course for anaesthetists

To be held at: Clinical Sciences Building, University Hospital, Clifford Bridge Road, Coventry CV2 2DX

This two-day course is intended for candidates appearing for the primary FRCA examination.

Day 1 This will include group OSCE and VIVA practice and practice of critical incidents and clinical skills on a simulator. Candidates split in to 8 groups (2 - 4 candidates in each group) and each group rotates through each station.

Eight stations will be set up as follows.

  1. Pharmacology viva.
  2. Physiology viva.
  3. Physics/clinical measurement viva.
  4. Chest X Rays and data interpretation.
  5. OSCE.
  6. OSCE.
  7. Graphs and figures.
  8. Critical incidents.

Candidates have an opportunity to receive individual feed back at each station.

Day 2 This will include 18 OSCE stations and viva practice on pharmacology, physiology, clinicals and physics/clinical measurement in the format similar to college exam.

Candidates have an opportunity to receive complete feedback on their performance in both the OSCE and viva elements.
