Final FRCA MCQ / SAQ Course
To be
held at: Clinical Sciences Building, University
Hospital
This is a three day course of intensive MCQ/SBA and SAQ practice for candidates sitting the Final FRCA exam. The course will involve intensive MCQ/SBA practice in surgery, medicine, clinical measurement, critical care medicine and pain management. All MCQs/SBAs will be analysed and answers will be discussed. This course provides an excellent opportunity to learn the techniques of answering MCQs and writing structured answers for SAQs.
| The three day format of the final
FRCA MCQ / SAQ course is very popular amongst the trainees preparing for
the exam. We receive very positive feedback from the candidates with
regard to the format of the MCQ / SAQ course. The format includes three
main components.
Candidates who register early can benefit from pre-course SAQ practice and feedback which starts two months before the course date. SAQ component: SAQs sessions are grouped into various subspecialties so that all important topics are covered. In each session you will be asked to write 4 SAQs. Tutors have reviewed the previous exam papers and have selected key SAQs on the allocated topics. Each session lasts for 90 minutes. You will have 45 minutes to write the answers to four questions. (In the exam you will get 15 minutes per question). Over another 45 minutes, the tutor will present the model answers. MCQ component: Each MCQ session consists of 30 MCQs on allocated topics. Again each session will have 90 minutes. You will have 45 minutes to answer 30 MCQs, followed by presentation of correct answers with explanation and discussion by the tutors. SBA component: Each SBA session consists of 30 SBA type questions on clinical anaesthesia, pain and intensive care medicine. All SBAs will be discussed using interactive TurningPoint technology. On day three there will be a twelve-SAQ test paper and a MCQ/SBA test paper with 60 MCQs and 30 SBAs. Model answers for SAQs and answers for the MCQs/SBAs will be presented. |
