There is a permanently available consultant on call who is responsible for covering labour ward. We also allocate consultant anaesthetists to weekday sessions in obstetric anaesthesia.

From 20 April 2009 this gives the proportion of 'weekday' sessions in which consultants worked solely dedicated to labour ward, out of each four week period starting on that date. It is therefore a measure of our direct consultant supervision in obstetric anaesthesia.

Before that date the period covered is from the first Monday of each month.
